Two days after a failed transfer. I got my hair done and had a nice lunch.
Not because I was fine. Because I needed to remember I still exist outside of IVF.
Nobody prepares you for the day after a negative beta. There's no protocol for that.
So I did the only thing that made sense to me. I got my hair done. I had a nice lunch. I sat with myself for a little while.
Not to celebrate anything. Not to pretend I wasn't sad.
Just to remember that I am still a person. Not just a patient. Not just a uterus with a timeline.
A whole person — who deserves to feel like herself, even when her body just said no.
Self-care after a failed cycle doesn't have to look like bubble baths and affirmations. Sometimes it just looks like a blow-dry and a good meal.
And that's enough.
What was the first small thing you did for yourself after a failed cycle — the thing that helped you feel like you again?
It's fine. It's not. But I showed up for myself today.
